Policies & Guidelines
At Southwest United Soccer Club, our policies and guidelines are designed to ensure a safe, respectful, and consistent experience for all participants — players, coaches, parents, and volunteers alike. This section provides access to the club’s core policies, including codes of conduct, safety protocols, dispute resolution procedures, and operational standards.
These documents reflect our commitment to transparency, accountability, and alignment with governing bodies such as Edmonton Minor Soccer Association, Edmonton & District Soccer Association, Alberta Soccer and Canada Soccer.
Policies, Processes & Guidelines
The purpose of this policy is to protect the safety and wellbeing of Southwest United youth athletes by ensuring all reasonable measures are taken to identify individuals whose history or behaviour may present a risk of harm to minors. This includes implementing screening processes to detect patterns of behaviour that could compromise the safety of vulnerable persons.
Southwest United is committed to a safe, ethical and accountable coaching environment. This policy incorporates the CCES Rule of Two, ensuring that a minor athlete is never alone with a single coach or adult in a potentially vulnerable situation.
This policy provides guidance for individuals who suspect that inappropriate behaviour may be occurring within Southwest United programming, including the steps to take and who to contact when reporting a concern.
This policy supports a safe, respectful, inclusive and equitable environment for SWU players, coaches, staff, volunteers and families by prohibiting bullying, cyberbullying, harassment and discrimination in all club activities.
These guidelines set out expectations for adults interacting with athletes under 18, including appropriate conduct, communication and supervision, along with guidance on raising concerns about misconduct.
